Excursions

Vruja

A magnificent place where the cliffs come down into the 100 metre-deep sea.

Unfortunately, the final depth of the sea spring has not yet been determined, despite numerous attempts. Namely, it is a system of fresh water sources that rise at this very place and create a perfect backdrop for scuba diving. Large schools of fish flocking to feed and mate create a sight equal to those we are used to see in documentaries on the Red Sea. This is why every new dive in this place is so unpredictable and interesting.

Other Excursions

The majority of day trips that link Brela with other destinations in Dalmatia offer the opportunity to explore a wider area.

The trips can take you to the ancient heart of Dalmatia, the city of Split, with its classical and medieval core built around the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian (Diocletian's Palace), as well as world-renowned Dubrovnik with its ancient walls and Republic history, and finally to the islands of Brač and Hvar, the centres of literacy and culture in the Adriatic.

Makarska, the centre of the Riviera and the coast is always a good choice with its beautiful riva (waterfront promenade), narrow Dalmatian cobblestone alleys known as 'kala', city square and St Mark's Cathedral. There is also a Franciscan monastery in the vicinity of the main square with a rich malacological collection from various parts of the world. Many will be enchanted by the magnificent combination of the colossal Biokovo Mountain and the sea that edges closer to the sky with every new look.

Daily fish picnics and feasts of the sea complete the trips to Omiš and Radmanove Mlinice (Old Radman's MIlls), picturesque places on the Cetina River, offering yet another chance to enjoy unforgettable natural beauty and culinary delights.

Mostar offers an exceptional combination of Mediterranean and Oriental culture. You can explore a typical Dalmatian hinterland heritage in Imotski, which is located above the famous Blue and Red Lakes.

In the immediate vicinity of Makarska is Vepric, a renowned Marian shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, created within a cave to be modelled upon Lourdes. For those that are after an adrenaline rush, there are organised trips to the Biokovo Mountain.
