Supetar is the largest settlement on the island of Brač and it is also the economic, cultural and tourist center on which one fifth of the total population of the island lives.
It stretches over a surface of about 30 km² and is located on the north side of Brac, in the opposite of Split. In 1423, the village Supetar was mentioned for the first time in history, and it was named after St. Peter. In the 19th century it became an island administrative center. Supetar has about 4,000 inhabitants.
Supetar and its long sandy and pebble beaches surrounded by pine forest and Mediterranean plants have been an attractive holiday destination for centuries. The tradition of hospitable people and a variety of accommodation continues to this day.
