Between the Adriatic Sea and the dramatic Cetina canyon, Omiš is one of Dalmatia’s most exciting small towns. Its pirate history, stone streets and spectacular river scenery make it an ideal destination for a day of culture, nature and adventure.
Omiš sits at the mouth of the Cetina River, beneath steep limestone cliffs that give the town one of the most dramatic settings on the Dalmatian coast. Its compact old town is made for wandering: narrow stone lanes, small squares and views of the river lead you back to the time when Omiš was known for its famous pirates.
Above the rooftops stands Mirabela Fortress, once used as a lookout over the Channel of Brač, while higher Fortica rewards visitors with wide views of the canyon, the sea and nearby islands.
Just outside the town, the Cetina canyon opens a completely different side of Dalmatia. Omiš is a destination of contrasts: lively yet relaxed, historic yet full of outdoor experiences, close to the sea yet shaped by the river and the mountains. It is perfect for guests who want more than a classic coastal walk — a day with stories, scenery and a little adrenaline.
