The official town day of Tučepi is celebrated on 13 July, the feast day of St Anthony, when a fiesta takes place in the town, while traditional concerts of Dalmatian ‘klapa’ groups are held until the end of the month. Fishermen nights are held throughout the summer including performances of popular local musicians. A contest in klapa singing is held in mid-July in the ancient atrium of the Bluesun Hotel Kaštelet****. The villages surrounding Tučepi (Podpeć, Čovići, Srida Sela, Šimići and Podstup), characterised by traditional coastal architecture, become the center of cultural and social events during the summer, with poetry nights, recitals and guest performances of famous Croatian writers and folk poets called ‘začinjavci’ (writers of early Croatian religious poetry). Scattered on the slopes of the impressive Biokovo Mountain, rich in natural spring water, vineyards and olive-groves, these villages are special attractions for foriegn tourists. The amazing views combined with home-cooked specialties and wine leave guests breathless.
